James Edward "Ed" Purvis, Sr. was born in Beaver Falls, PA. In 1958 he moved to San Jose.
Ed was best known as the owner of the Tire Outlet Store at Stevens Creek and Saratoga Ave. in San Jose. It was there that Ed cemented his reputation for kindness, customer service, humor and honesty.
He moved to Rocklin and started a restaurant/bar business. From that endeavor he moved to Reno, Nevada where he worked as a flooring supplies salesman.
Ed's life is defined by the positive impact he had on the people he left behind. His love was unconditional, non-judgmental and always available to those who sought it.

Ed is survived by his children: Janette, James, Jereld, Karen and Melissa, and his grandchildren, Alec, Curtis, Hayley, Pete and Taylor, and his son-in-law Victor. Also his siblings Gail Black, Gary Purvis, Linda (Jack) Burrow of Dorris, California
