son of the late John and Mary E. Cooper.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Hillco Excavating Company, retiring in 1978.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Howell Cooper of Front Royal; one son, Gary Cooper of Vienna; three daughters, Marie Craig of Roanoke, Ellen Carty of Pulaski and Jaquita Edney of Walnut Cove, N.C.; one sister, Nancy Lucas of Pearisburg; one brother, Charlie Duncan Jr. of Parkersburg, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great- grandson.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal. Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
