During his service in the Korean War, he was stationed in Alaska, Korea, and Japan. On his return to the States, he took advantage of the GI Bill and received an MBA from Columbia University in New York City. In 1956, while studying at Columbia, he met his beloved wife to be, Phyllis Aline Cowan, who was attending Barnard College. They were happily married for 57 years.
In addition to Phyllis, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in law: Douglas and wife Kate (Reddy), Kenneth and wife Linda (Cernak), and Eric and wife Alexandra (Yennella). He also leaves behind Alyssa, his treasured granddaughter.
Dave will be remembered for his love of his family, their boating, camping, and fishing adventures through the years, and regular trips to North Carolina, the Jersey Shore, and New England. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan. Most importantly, his family will remember his wonderful, witty sense of humor.
Memorial donations may be made in David's name to the Arc of Bergen and Passaic Counties, 223 Moore St., Hackensack, NJ 07601, www.arcbp.com. At the family's request, there will be a private family ceremony followed by interment in the Pearl River Cemetery.
