Mrs. Sarah A. Pollock of 821 East Tenth Avenue, a resident of Winfield and vicinity for more than 40 years died Monday night at eleven o'clock at Newton Memorial Hospital where she was taken last Saturday suffering with pneumonia. Mrs Pollock had been feeling badly since before Christmas when she went to New Salem to spend the holidays with her daughter Mrs. Ella Snook. She returned soon after and since had failed steadily. Her condition became critical Saturday. Mrs. Pollock came to Kansas in 1888 with her husband to settle, and since has resided in and near Winfield. Before moving here she had lived on a farm near New Salem for many years. She was a member of the First Methodist church of this city, having joined the Methodist church at the age of 16. She was active in the Rebekah lodge, the Ladies of the G. A. R., and in all societies and departments of the church. Sarah Anna Stuard, the daughter of Andrew and Martha Stuard was born near Indianola, ILL., October 1850. On April 28, 1874 she was united in marriage to John S. Pollock and to them six children were born, three of whom are living. They are Mrs. Ella Snook of New Salem, Mrs. Lydia Constant of Fletcher, Okla., and Ira Pollock of Shidler, Okla. Olivia Pollock died when 8 years ol, Fred when 4 years old and Edith at 18 months. Mr. Pollock died December 8, 1894. Fifteen grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church at New Salem. Rev. D. H. Switzer will officiate. Burial will be in the New Salem cemetery. Short services for Winfield friends will be held from the family residence at one o'clock before the funeral party leaves for New Salem.
