David Lee Cowan passed away at National Healthcare Center in Cookeville, Tennessee, on Friday, May 8, 2015, following an extended illness.
Graveside service and interment will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:00AM at Double Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Whitson Funeral Home on Monday, May 11th from 5:00-8:00PM.
Mr. Cowan was born on March 20, 1937, to the late Mr. Ben High Cowan and Harvie Terry Cowan Mills.
He is survived by three sons: Edward Cowan of Algood, TN, Britt Cowan of Michigan, and James Cowan of Mississippi. Two Brothers: Charles Ben Cowan of Ten Mile, Tennessee, and James Earl Cowan of Cookeville, Tennessee. Two Sisters: Dorotha Cowan Brodhag and Dimple Cowan Sherrill both of Cookeville, Tennessee. David is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cowan was preceded in death by two sisters: Alma Irene Cunningham and Opal Christine Allen.
Mr. Cowan was employed in the restaurant industry for over fifty years in various cities including New York City, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and of course, here in Cookeville, Tennessee.
In later years, he enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends, and was a big fan of reading and watching westerns.
