John Thomas "Tommy" Parkinson, Sr., 88, of Crisfield, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at his home.

Born in Deal Island on July 3, 1926, he was a son of the late George and Annie White "Crabbin Annie" Parkinson. His wife, Emma Rae Sterling Parkinson, died February 6, 2000.

A graduate of Crisfield High School, he was a waterman and a US Amry Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Crisfield Church of God and was active in the nursing home ministry for 42 years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his children, LeaAnn Leslie of Flower Mound, TX, and Rick Parkinson and wife Lara, Faith Elliott and husband Steve, and Andrew Parkinson, all of Crisfield; a brother, Richard "Red" Parkinson of New Mexico; nine grandchildren, Dawn Sterling and husband Jeff, Emma, Ava, and S.J. Elliott, Nathan and Trevor Leslie, and Hannah, Cynthia, and Ricky Parkinson, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Howard; a special nephew, Edward "King" Parkinson of Tennessee; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by two children, Bonnie Parkinson and Tommy Parkinson, Jr.; a brother, Edward Parkinson; two sisters, Eva Hall and Julia Evans; and a granddaughter, Jordyn Mariah Elliott.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11 AM at the Crisfield Church of God where a viewing will be one hour prior. The Rev. Harvey Tyler will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.
