Husband of Mattie Gregg.

Currence Gregg was born March 6, 1848 at Rushville, Rush County, Indiana. He was the son of William and Mary Gregg. As a small boy he moved with his parents to Oscella, Clark Co., Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Josephine Piper at the age of 21. After 10 years, death claimed the mother, leaving Homer D., Lola E., Adolphus C., and Josephine who died in 1917.
He later married Miss Mattie Thomas. To this union were born Ollie M., Sulva O., Ethel Alta, Aldo D., Murray, Lulu C., Goldie, who died at years of age and one child that died as an infant.
He moved as a pioneer to Kansas in 1879 where he resided in Rice and Reno Counties, except for a short sojourn in Oklahoma and Missouri, and a return to Iowa.
After the death of his wife Mattie he married Laura Ehler February 20, 1929. But death again intervened and claimed her after one month. He then married Nancy Carson July 20, 1929, with whom he lived until death entered their home and claimed him January 11, 1933 at 7:30 P.M. He was 84 years, 10 months and 5 days old at the time of his decease.
He has been a member of the Christian Church since the early church here. He is survived by his wife Nancy, 6 boys and 3 girls. Homer D. Gregg, Enid Oklahoma, Adolph C. Gregg, Nickerson Kansas, Ollie M. Gregg, Sulva O. Gregg, Aldo D. Gregg, Murray Gregg, Lola E. Geist, and Ethel Sterling, Sterling Kansas, Lula Mummy, Nickerson Kansas, one sister, Mrs. A.H. Sutton, Guymon, Oklahoma, 20 grand children, and 8 great grand children.
He is preceded by his wives Josephine, Mattie, Laura and 3 children, Josephine, Goldie and one infant.
His life has been a landmark in the pioneer history of Kansas and especially Reno and Rice counties, where he has resided. He leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held from the farm home at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Rev. D.W. Fielder in charge and burial was made in Wildmead Cemetery.
