Harry Charles Underwood (along with his wife Mary Rider Underwood) came to California in the early 1920s and was soon working as a teacher at Lincoln High School. He spent his entire career here in the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher, counselor and administrator. He capped his career as a very popular Evening school principal.
He was heavily involved in service work both with the Kiwanis and through his faith. His devotion to his beliefs were well known and he was a prominent member of the Hollywood Methodist Church. He and Mary raised two children and built a fulfilling life.
