Paul Richard Bender, age 84 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Saturday, November 29, 1930 at Valley Head, WV a son of the late Richard and Flora Irene Wyatt Bender.
Surviving are eight children, Sandy Moyers and husband Ronnie of VA, Barbara Barkley of Elkins, Johnny Bender of Essex, MD, Paul R. Bender, Jr. and wife Barbara of Elkins, Peggy Fortney Judy and husband Chuck of Norton, Margaret Jean Bender Robinson and husband Raymond of Belington, Helena Bowery of Beverly, and Dave Harlen of Elkins; three brothers, Barry Wayne Bender and friend Betty Defibaugh, Roger Bender and wife Faye, all of Elkins, and Eugene Bender and wife Karen, of Montrose; two sisters, Pauline Naomi Bender, and Anna Mae Shoulders, both of Elkins; several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are three brothers, Robert, James "Jim", and Kenneth Bender and one sister, Kathleen Mae Miller.
He attended the one room school at Dailey, was a Coal Miner and later the Manager of the former Underground Lounge.
He enjoyed gardening.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM Thursday.
Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11 AM.
The Rev. Lewis Bartlett will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
