OBITUARY: MARSHALLTOWN TIMES-REPUBLICAN, TUESDAY, MAY 7, 1963, PAGE 8, COL 5 - TONY BLASCHKE DIES AT AGE 87; RITES THURSDAY - Tony Blaschke, 87, 1010 W. Nevada St., died at 4:45 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital. He had been hospitalized a month. Death was attributed to cancer. A Public Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Avery Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Blaschke was born in Czechoslovakia Nov. 1, 1875, to Mr. and Mrs. Anton Blaschke. He came to this country at 16 and was married in Grundy County to Mollie Klar Feb 11, 1899. She died Aug 8, 1947. In February, 1948, he was married to Bertha Jentzen who died June 4, 1957. Mr. Blaschke had retired from farming in 1919. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Delbert Janzen and Mrs. Frank Dworzak and a son, Clarence, all of Marshalltown; two step-daughters, Mrs. Chauncey Hoover, Ames, and Mrs. Clarence Jansen, Marshalltown; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
