ROCKFORD - Liona Susannah (Fry) Heuston, 97, of Rockford died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, in Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa, from complications after surgery. Born Sept. 28, 1906, in Garden Prairie. the daughter of Arthur and Lottie E. (Watkins) Fry. She graduated from high school in DeSmet, S.D., and obtained her bachelor's degree from Milwaukee Downer College in Wisconsin. Married Floyd Franklin Heuston on June 29, 1935, in Rockford; he died Feb. 24, 1969. She was a retired public school teacher of 28 years, 16 of those at Highland Elementary and Roosevelt Junior High School in Rockford. During her retirement years, she pursued private tutoring, taking care of her house in Rockford and continuing the Christian ministry of Jehovah's Witnesses, in which she was active for more than 60 years. Survivors include son, Carlton Randall (Kari-Mette) Heuston of Davenport; grandchildren, Mia Klassy of New York, N.Y., and Matthew (Brit-Erin) Gardner of Madison, Wis.; one great-grandchild; sisters, Florence Harvey of Beloit, Wis.; and Lois Larsen of Janesville, Wis.; and nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by parents, and brother, Clifford Fry, formerly of Rockford.
Memorial service at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, in West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. 2600 Elm St., Rockford. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park. Private burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. 1-15-2
