CORINNA – Penny Elizabeth (Beem) Griffin, 88, died peacefully May 2, 2015 at a Dexter healthcare facility with her daughter by her side. She was born January 2, 1927 in Houlton, a daughter of Lewis and Beulah (Brown) Beem. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1945. Penelope worked as a bookkeeper at Eastland Woolen Mill in Corinna until her retirement in 1981. She attended the Morses Corner Baptist Church in Corinna.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Whittaker) Doherty and husband Danny of Corinna; 2 grandchildren, Tracy Wiers and husband Jeff, and Bill Doherty; 2 special great grandchildren, Reagan Wiers and Daigan Doherty.

Penny’s legacy was her great love of her family. She was not only Marsha’s mother, she was her best friend.

Penelope was predeceased by her first husband, Bill Whittaker, 2nd husband, Austin Griffin, her sister Pearl and brothers Fred, Jupe and Nathaniel.

Private graveside committal services will be held at Morses Corner Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Chapel, 68 Exeter Road, Corinna.
