Joseph Billings Dead.

Body will be shipped Here for Burial In a Few Days.

Word reached here today that Joseph Billings of Guthrie, formerly of this city, was dead, and that his body would be shipped here for burial in the old soldier's division of Riverview cemetery. The report indicated that he died yesterday, but no date for the shipment of the body or funeral could be made at that time on account of lack of word from relatives.

Served as a Private with Company "F" 49th Illinois Infantry enlisting from Richland County, Illinois. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Pleasant Hill, LA but was later paroled and was discharged on December 7, 1864.
