Mary E. Raasch, 76, of Brady, NE, formerly of Kearney, went to be with her Lord and Savior after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully, Friday, May 1, 2015 with her loving husband and family by her side. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor Duane Duley officiating. Burial will be Thursday, May 7, 2015 10:30 a.m. at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary was born in Kearney, NE on August 13, 1938, to Lawrence and Myrtle (Shield) Felber where she lived for several years until the family moved to Fremont, NE. Upon graduation from Fremont High School in 1956, she moved to Omaha, NE where she met Lyle Raasch while working in a downtown department store. They were joined in marriage in Beemer, Nebraska on December 29, 1957 and to this union, the couple had four children. The family enjoyed making their home in several different states before settling back in Nebraska. While providing a warm and secure home, Mary also worked in the Millard Public Schools and Kearney Public Schools, so that she could assist with the education of her children. She began a career with Farm Credit Association before joining Union Bank and Trust where she would finally retire in 2008.

Mary worked side by side with her husband, Lyle, in building and remodeling several homes where they entertained family and friends. While she enjoyed traveling, her greatest love was the cabin at Jeffery Reservoir. Sharing the beauty of the lake while hosting guests would always make her smile. After retiring they purchased and remodeled a home in Paisley, FL, where they would escape the Nebraska winters. She always looked forward to returning to Nebraska in the spring, to tend to the flowers that surrounded their lakefront home.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lyle, and children Kevin Raasch (Sheena) of Miles City, MT, Deb Raasch of Bellevue, NE, Jean Burmood (Ed Spillman) of Kearney, NE and Len Raasch (Tracy) of St. Louis, MO. Grandchildren, Micaela Raasch, Abigail Raasch, Jeff Burmood, Dustin Burmood, Sarah Burmood (fiancé Brady McCaslin), Felicia Lyons, Deana Raasch, and four great-grandchildren, Autumn Burmood, Owen Burmood, Evan Johnson and Sammy Johnson. Along with step-father, Gerald Moore of Bellevue, NE, brothers Lawrence Felber Lake Almanor, CA and William “George” Felber of Omaha, NE, as well as extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Myrtle (Shield) Felber, step-father Thomas Schroth, grandson Kevin Lyons and infant granddaughter Alexandria Raasch.
