Mrs. Alma Josephine Hallgren was born in Gustaf's Socken, Sweden, January 1, 1865 and after a lingering illness passed away in Minneapolis, Minn., Tuesday, Nov. 29th, being at the time of her death 67 years, 10 months and 28 days old. At the age of 25 she came to America and settled in Grant county, where she was united in marriage to Carl E. Hallgren in 1892. In 1896 the Hallgren family moved to Douglas county and bought a farm in La Grand township, where they resided until three years ago, when Mr. Hallgren died. Five children were born to this union, namely: George of Minneapolis; Arthur of Carlos; Mamie (Mrs. Ernest Ahlers) of Minneapolis; Esther; who passed away in 1918, and Hannah (Mrs. Dewey Howe) of Evansville. She also leaves one brother in Sweden.
The funeral services were held from the Anderson Fuineral Home Friday afternoon with Rev. Oscar O. Gustafson of the Svea Lutheran church officiating. The body was placed in the vault awaiting future burial in the Kinkead cemetery. The pallbearers were George McCord, Alfred Lundgren, Andrew Lundgren, Olaus and Stephen Johnson and Bernard Wagner.
