Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo Catholic Church, Pipestone, for Gladys Demuth, 92, who died Saturday. Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery, Woodstock. Friends may call two hours before services at the church in Pipestone. Arrangements are with Hartquist Funeral Chapel, Pipestone.
Gladys Demuth was born to Amos and Harriet (Riffel) Aust in Pipestone County. She married Nicholas Demuth on July 30, 1924, in Woodstock. They farmed near Hatfield, Woodstock and Porter for most of their married life. They lived in Belgrade for 20 years before retiring in Pipestone. After her husband's death on May 2, 1979, she moved to the John Paul Apartments, Cold Spring. She had been a resident of Assumption Nursing Home, Cold Spring, since 1995.
She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, Ladies Aid, Catholic Daughters, and Christian Mothers.
Survivors include daughters, Virginia Shorer of Iona, Jylan Flood of Hazel, S.D., and Mary Hunter of St. Louis Park; sons, Nick Demuth of St. Cloud, and Barry Demuth of Minneapolis; 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dudley; sisters, Lola and Ethel; brother, Harold; stepbrother, James; and four grandchildren.
