Gertrude Mary Connolly, 96, of New Bern, died at River Point Crest Nursing Home on Friday, May 1, 2015.
Connolly had a career at the Sun Journal that spanned 50 years. She was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Msgr. Michael A. Irwin #1704.
Connolly is survived by her sister Josephine Connolly Fitzsimmons of Iselin, New Jersey.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3005 Country Club Road, New Bern, North Carolina, on Monday, May 4, 2015 at noon. Visitation will start prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. .
