Charles Theodore Nelson was born on July 21, 1949 to Ludvig and Betty (Smith) Nelson in St. James, Minnesota. He lived with his family in St. James until 1963 when they moved to a farm in rural Trimont. Charlie was a 1968 Graduate of Trimont High School. He served in the United States Army from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1971. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky where he served as a cook. He moved back to rural Trimont and was employed at Tony Downs from 1971 until 1974. Charlie then was employed at S-T Industries in St. James from 1974 until the time of his death. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post. He greatly enjoyed working with farm animals and doing yard work. He enjoyed being on the farm and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Charles was a kind, gentle, caring, quiet person. He was always there to lend a helping hand.

Charles was found on Sunday morning, May 21, 2006 at his home in rural Trimont, Minnesota at the age of fifty-six years.

Survivors include his two brothers, David Nelson and his wife, Cindy Bee, of rural Trimont, Minnesota and Kevin Nelson and his wife, Jody, of Trimont, Minnesota; nieces, Anita Nelson, Keya Krumwiede; nephews, Andrew Nelson, Kyle Nelson and Kurt Nelson; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Linda Nelson and other relatives.
