RUTH C. (BACKER) WOESSNER , 88, a resident of Parkview Home, died there Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1988. A graduate of West Side Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago, she had a nursing career before her marriage. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Shannon, and was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of the Freeport Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a 50-year member and past high priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. On April 9, 1899, she was born in Ogle County near Shannon, the daughter of John B. and Lydia A. (Patlow) Backer. On January 10, 1928, she married Clarence M. Folgate, who preceded her in death. Then she married Howard Woessner, who also died. Survivng are a sister, Esther (Mrs. Harold) Achtehagen of Lombard, and nieces and nephews, including James B. Johnson of Shannon. Service will be at 1:30 PM Friday at Walker Mortuary. The Rev. Michael B. Morris, pastor of Bethel Untied Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
