He was the loving husband of the late Mildred D. (Gotwalt) Anderson.
Born in Dallastown on June 27, 1918, he was the son of the late Jesse and Sarah (Waltemyer) Anderson.
Dick was a farmer on the family farm most of his life and a long-time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
He also worked for M&T Bank, formerly Dauphin Deposit.
He was a loving and friendly man to all who knew him. Dick will be greatly missed. He was noted for his wonderful smile.
Dick is survived by his three sons; Richard F. Anderson Jr. and his wife JoAnn, Dale E. Anderson and his wife Jane, Carl L. Anderson and his wife Susan all of Dallastown, eight grandchildren; Richard Anderson III and his wife Sheila, Todd Anderson and his wife Jackie, Dana Anderson, David Anderson and his wife Wendy, Tim Anderson and his wife Apryl, Julie Bowman and her husband Bill, Travis Anderson, Jason Anderson and his wife Tracie, twelve great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dick was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.
A service to celebrate the life of Richard F. Anderson, Sr. will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dallastown, 205 West Main Street, Dallastown, PA with Rev. Dr. Chris Rodkey officiating.
A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St. Dallastown, and then again on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York. Pallbearers will be his eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dallastown, 205 West Main Street, Dallastown, PA 17313.
