Elizabeth was a chorus girl with a musical comedy company when she met her first husband, George Bayne Stephens. He was attending school at Syracuse University.
It was an ill-fated marriage that was annulled in February, 1918. A son, David Stephens, was born the previous November.
Sometime before 1930 (1925?) Elizabeth married Claude Hidalgo MacGowan. Her son took the name David Hidalgo MacGowan. (It's possible they were never legally married.)
