Vera Phelps, 96, of Clinton died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday (June 3, 2006) at Hawthorne Inn, Clinton.
She was born July 19, 1909, in Pierre, S.D., a daughter of Lyman and Bessie Downey Yunker. She married Dellus Earl Phelps on July 5, 1930. He preceded her in death Dec. 29, 1996.
She is survived by a daughter, Merla (J. Kent) Hickerson; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Lowell (Charlene) Yunker and five sisters, Bernice Manley, Maxine Turntine, Edna Gordon, Reatha (Fred) Willett and Margaret Sharrett.
She also was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Yunker.
