Thomas Donahue Dodd Sr., of Centreville, MD died December 3, 2013 in Easton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his son Lew, daughter-in-law Marilyn and his granddaughters. He was 91.

Mr. Dodd was born January 25, 1922 in Carmichael, son of the late Henry and Janie Donahue Dodd. He was a lifetime resident of Queen Anne’s County where his family has farmed since the Revolution. He moved to what is now known as Cedar Run Farm in 1952 where he farmed grain, dairy and hogs. In 1967 he returned to his wife’s family home in Centreville. He retired from The State Highway Administration in 1984. Mr. Dodd loved racing standard bred horses and raising rabbits with his granddaughter. He was a member of the Queen Anne’s County Farm Bureau and Church Hill United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Myrtle Mae Lewis Dodd and his siblings, Willard “Bill” Dodd, John H. Dodd, Sr., Elizabeth “Teeny” Clark, Emily Morris, and his twin sister Nettie Walbert.

Mr. Dodd is survived by his sons: Thomas D. “Donnie” Dodd Jr. and his wife Kathie of Ashland, Alabama; and H. Lewis “Lew” Dodd and his wife Marilyn of; Sudlersville. Donnie’s’ son, K. Darren Dodd and his wife Patty, and her children: Nickie, Dwayne, Michael and Amber. Along with Kathie’s daughters: Amy and her husband Steve; and Kristen and her husband Chris, Lew’s children: Henry and his wife Natalie Dodd, Teri Peterson and her husband Fred, Jenny Spencer and her husband Mike, and his 8 great grandchildren: Brooke, Jacob, Marshall, Ethan & Sean Dodd; Miranda & Macey Peterson; and Grayson Spencer, and one on the way; and his sister Mary Robinson of Chestertown.

Friends and Family may call on Monday, December 9 from 11 to 12 pm at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W Cross St, Galena, MD where service will follow at 12 pm. Internment will be at the Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD.
