LOUIS W. AGNE 78 EXPIRES AT HOME
Lifelong Resident of Section Stricken After Illness of Nine Days
HIGGINSVILLE, May 23 -- Louis W. Agne, 78, lifelong resident of this section, passed away at the home of his son, David Agne, at the Agne homestead at Happy Valley, Friday night after an illness of nine days following a stroke.
He was born at the family homestead where he died. Following his marriage on February 23, 1886, to Miss Catherine E. Gogan, they resided for a few years at Vernon Center, removing to the homestead in 1892, where they resided 42 years. Two years ago, Mr. Agne retired from farming and moved to a home in State Bridge, but had been at the home of his son since his illness. Last February, Mr. and Mrs. Agne celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the homestead. Mr. Agne was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Churchville.
Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Fred of State Bridge, and David of Higginsville; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Stook of Verona and Mrs. Phoebe Esch of Churchville; a brother, Daniel Agne of Oneida; two grandsons, Robert Agne of Churchville, and Joseph Agne of State Bridge.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at the Agne homestead at 1 p.m. e.s.t., and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Churchville, at 2p.m. Burial will be made at Churchville.
