Lillian Emma Duncan was born May 21, 1917 to Harvey and Amanda (Kahler) Duncan in Sherburn, Minnesota. She was baptized on June 3, 1917 and later confirmed on April 5, 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. She received her education in Sherburn Schools. On April 10, 1938, Lillian was united in marriage to Ivan Stade at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived on a farm in Fairmont Township until 1962 when they moved to a farm in Lake Fremont Township, rural Dunnell where they farmed until retiring in 1982, remaining on the farm. Ivan died on December 17, 1993. Lillian later moved to Fairmont in 1994 until making her home at Goldfinch Estates. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont and the Charity Club, Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary and the Rose Lake Thimble Club. While living near Dunnell, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Dunnell,H.E.L.P. Club, alter guild, on the flower committee, and Sarah Society and a member of Lake Fremont Farmer's Club of Dunnell. She greatly enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Lillian died on Friday afternoon, August 12, 2005 at her home in Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont, Minnesota at the age of eighty-eight years.

Her son, Robert Stade and his wife, Phylis, of North Mankato, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Ian Stade of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Mary Stade and her significant other, Jeremy Korn of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sisters, Elaine Mahar and her husband, Dick, of Fairmont, Minnesota, Lucille Luhman of Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Irene Stade of Dunnell, Minnesota, Letha Barnett of Fairmont, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Willard Magners and Loren Stade both of Fairmont, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents,her husband, Ivan Stade; three sisters, Janice Samlaska, Eloise Magners and Dorothy DeWar and other relatives
