Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Abell lived in Interlaken.
He retired in 1967, as a stationary engineer and tool and dye maker for Block Ice and Coal Storage Co., Manasquan. He also worked for Bendix Corp. Eatontown.
He graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1928 and Drexel University of Philidelphia in 1932 with a degree in engineering.
He was a member of the Lanbda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was a former member of the Wayside Rod and Gun Club and a former singer for the Apollo Club in Asbury Park.
Surviving are his wife, Estelle Cook Abell; and four cousins.
