In the fall of 1863 he removed with his family to Lancaster, Pa., the seat of the Theological seminary of the Reformed church, in order to prepare himself for his divine calling. After three years of earnest study he graduated and was licensed to preach the gospel. He was ordained by West Susquehanna Classis.
The charges which he served are as follows: Nittany Valley, Centre county, Pa., '76-'82; Augusta, Northumberland county, Pa., '82-'87; Orangeville, Ill., '87-'90; Apple Creek, Ohio, '90-'92; Astoria, Ill., '92-1900; Liscomb, Iowa, 1900-1902.
The funeral services took place on Friday from the house and later at the church, in Orangeville, Ill. A large number of appreciative friends and former parishioners assembled in these services to pay him their last tribute of respect.-- The Orangeville Courier.
