Mary Margaret (Goodnight) Bay, 89, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, just one month short of her 90th birthday. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 1, at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. A graveside service will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, in College Station Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. at the A&M Church of Christ in College Station.

Mary was born to the late Charles and Mildred Goodnight at her parent's home nine miles from a small country community called Reeces Creek near Killeen, Texas. Growing up, Mary played and worked alongside her parents and siblings on their family farm. She attended Killeen High School where she was involved in softball, tennis, cheerleading, and was drum major of the band. She graduated Valedictorian at the age of 16.

Mary married her childhood sweetheart, William Wallace Bay, on September 15, 1943, in Killeen, Texas. She and Wallace moved to College Station where he attended Texas A&M University, and she worked in the Engineering Department. She attended Purdue University while Wallace worked on his PhD. In 1952, they moved back to Killeen. They enjoyed spending time together as a family and taking numerous vacations. Her favorite activities were being with people, participating in lady's Bible class, traveling, and playing bridge.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William; brothers, Charles and Weldon Goodnight; and a sister, Armilda Reid.

Survivors include her son, Richard Scott Bay and his wife, Sylvia (Thomason), of Houston; daughter, Marcia Bay Crouch and her husband, Steve, of Bryan; grandchildren, Justin Anderson Crouch and his wife, Melissa (Andraus), of College Station, William "Bill" Anderson Bay and Suzanne Elizabeth Bay, of Houston; great-granddaughter, Avery Madison Crouch, of College Station; brother-in-law, James Kilpatrick; sister-in-law, Jean Bay; and several nieces, nephews; and other extended family members.
