Harold Henry Arps, 90, of Deshler, Ohio passed away Monday morning, April 27, 2015 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green, Ohio.
He was born June 26, 1924 in Tilbury Ontario, Canada to the late Arthur and Hannah (Plassman) Arps. On September 7, 1952 he married Irene Schwiebert at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler.
Harold honorably served his country with two enlistments in the U.S. Army. He worked for over 36 years at the former Sherwin-Williams/Deshler Products, retiring in 1990.
He was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler, where he served as an elder, financial secretary and Sunday School treasurer. Along with his wife Irene, he volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels for several years.
Harold is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Irene; four children, Nancy (Ken) Bahler, Findlay, Ohio; Sharon (Jim) Mason, McClure, Ohio; David (Linda) Arps, Bowling Green; Daniel (Jackie) Arps, Deshler; three granddaughters, Amy (John) Thesing; Meredith (Jacob) Parkhurst; Mackenzie (Jacob) Engel; and two great granddaughters, Lexie and Sammy Thesing.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Regina Arps; brother, Raymond and an infant brother.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Peace Lutheran Church, Deshler with Rev. Mark Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler and 10-11 a.m., Friday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or Bridge Hospice-Bowling Green.
