Funeral services for Vena Margaret Runyan, 91, will be held April 30, 2015, at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Covenant Village of Colorado in Westminster, Colorado. Vena passed away on April 24 at covenant Village in Westminster. Vena was born in Torrington on March 22, 1924, the second child of Harry and Maud (Bright) McDaniel. She attended grade school in Lingle and Torrington, graduating from Torrington High School in 1942. She worked in the real estate office of C. O. Downing in Torrington and attended two years of college in Tarkio, Missouri. At college, she met Thomas Wayne Runyan and they were married in the old United Presbyterian Church in Torrington, on Dec. 24, 1946. Vena and her sister, Betty Jo taught at the Katzer school near Lyman. She lived as a Navy wife in San Francisco, Del Monte, and San Diego, California. She enjoyed traveling with her husband to various off-site assignments during his 36 year job with General Dynamics in San Diego. She was always active in their church and in the Gideon’s International Auxiliary. She taught Sunday school and Bible classes in Florida, Belgium and San Diego. After Wayne retired in 1989, they moved to Loveland, Colorado. She enjoyed working with Wayne on their family genealogy. In 2004, they moved to the Covenant Village located in westminster.She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Wayne Runyan; her parents; her brothers Ward McDaniel, and Bob McDaniel; a nephew Gary Hertzler and a great-nephew Denton Hertzler.
