John Erickson
The death of Mr. John Erickson, of Albee on Sunday evening, March 31, after an illness of several months, was received with sadness by Mr. Erickson's many friends in this locality, where he was so well known and universally esteemed. Cirrhosis of the liver and complications was the cause of death.
Deceased was born in Manitowoc County, Wis. Jan. 2, 1860, and came to Grant county in 1882. He was married in this city in November 1882 to Miss Julia Thompson of Manitowoc, and the family lived until a few years ago on their farm in Vernon township upon which Mr. Erickson settled when when he first came here. For several years past the family resided in Albee. Besides the widow the deceased is leaves four children to mourn for him -- Herman Erickson of Sioux Falls, Mrs. J.H. Selgeby of Revillo, one daughter Mamie, one son, Alvin at home in Albee.
John Erickson was at all times held in the highest esteem by his neighbors and acquaintences as a man of strict integrity and honorable conduct, and at various times was elected to offices by his fellow citizens in township and county, being county commissioner for eight years in the second commissioner district.
The funeral was held at Albee Wed. afternoon and was largely attended by friends of the deceased man. All of the immediate family and a brother of the deceased, Andrew Erickson, of Sioux Falls were athe home to attend the funeral. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a son, Leonard.
