Loyd Miller Angelo, 88, died Dec. 21, 2004, at Columbine Manor Care Center in Salida.

He was born Jan. 9, 1916, in Miltonvale, Kan., to Mable and Jesse Dell Angelo.

He was raised in Horton, Kan., and later earned a degree in business administration from Kansas State University.

He married Ida Elizabeth Rumold Sept. 10, 1939, in Hiawatha, Kan., wife of 51 years.

He was a bomb inspector at the Sunflower Ordinance Plant in Parsons, Kan., during World War II. After the war he worked at Goodyear, and later owned a hardware store and grain elevator in Melvern, Kan.

Mr. Angelo moved to Howard in 1957 where he owned the Welcome Inn Café and worked for the county.

In 1968, he founded Mountain Timber Products in Poncha Springs.

He married Edith Alexander July 5, 1991, in Salida, wife of 13 years.

Mr. Angelo was a devoted husband and loving father. He was a man of faith who loved jeep rides with his family, music, woodworking and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Angelo; daughters, Norma (Buster) Forbes, and Sylvia (John) Foster and sons, David (Lynn) Angelo and Galen (Donna) Angelo; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and sister, Iva Andler, Omaha, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ida Elizabeth Angelo and sister, Gladys Farris.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Dec. 27 at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 28 at Temple Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Poncha Springs Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Columbine Manor through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Loyd M. Angelo were held at 11 a.m. Dec. 28, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church. Rev. C. Ray Adkins officiated.

Organist was Tommie Hughes and soloist was Brenda Heckel. Musical selections were “The Holy City,” “In the Garden” and “Whispering Hope.”

Mr. Angelo’s son-in-law, Buster Forbes, read a poem and Mr. Angelo’s grandsons, Jesse and Nathan Angelo, sang a special song for their grandfather. Many shared memories of Mr. Angelo.

Pallbearers were Nathan Angelo, Jesse Angelo, Jim Foster, Ryan Elarton, Chuck Noland and Bill Dyer. Honorary pallbearers were David Angelo, Galen Angelo, John Foster and John Spencer.

Interment followed in Poncha Springs Cemetery.

Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
