Victim of Tuberculosis Contracted at Camp --- Burial Monday
Pvt. Thomas Branch, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Branch, died Sunday morning at his home here, a victim of tuberculosis contracted while in training camp. Besides his parents, a brother and sister, Albert and Lillie Branch, survive.
Thomas volunteered for service at the very beginning of the war. While in camp he developed a severe cold which went into pneumonia and later into tuberculosis. He was sent to a sanatorium near Asheville but about two weeks ago his father was notified there was no hope for him and he was brought to his home here.
The funeral Monday morning which was attended by large numbers of his former school and class mates, was conducted by Rev. F. A. Bower and burial made at the cemetery.
