MARTHA ELIZABETH McCASHEN Obituary

Martha Elizabeth, daughter of D. W. and Barbara E. John, was born near Maxwell, Iowa, June 27, 1870, and departed this life December 8, 1935, at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 11 days.
She had lived all but one of her 65 years in this community. In early life she was converted and joined the Presbyterian church of Maxwell to which she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was united in marriage to Hugh Colbert McCashen on March 7, 1907, who preceded her in death just 16 months ago. To this union twin daughters were born, Mrs. Ray Skala, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Clarence Warrell, of this place.
She leaves to mourn her departure, besides the daughters, five grandchildren, Beverly Jean and Barbara Lee Warrell, of Maxwell; Jerry Ray, Jean R. and Lee Bennett Skala, of Des Moines; two sisters, Miss Rose E. John, of Maxwell, and Mrs. C. H. Axford, of Orchard Wash.; two brothers, Clark John, of Maxwell, and John J. John, of Burt; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Maxwell at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Morris Eikenberry, of Dallas Center, assisted by Rev. S. C. Wadding, of Des Moines, and interment was in the Maxwell cemetery beside her husband.
Music for the funeral was furnished by Messrs. Ross and Claire Olinger and Mesdames O. W. Parker and V. O. Ray, accompanied by Mrs. H. D. Larsen. Pall bearers were David Pearson, J. E. Ward, C. B. French, Maurice Bowen J. H. Cleverly and W. P. Rupp.
Relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. John J. John and Sidney John, of Burt; Mrs. Ray Skala, Mrs. Mary Shaffer, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Couch and son, Bob, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Raugh, Mrs. John Skala, Rev. and Mrs. S. C. Wadding, of Des Moines; Clint Rider and Miss Jennie Rider, of Ira; Mrs. J. L. Coughlan, of Mingo; Mrs. Lem Garen, of Elkhart; Clarence Swigert and Rev. Eikenberry, of Dallas Center, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Finnie, of Nevada.
