Another old resident of Republic county, E.B. Helwick died at the home of his son in San Diego, Calif., last Saturday at the age of about 75 years.

Mr. Helwick moved to California four years ago, where his son was located, previous to that time he lived in this county, having homesteaded in Liberty township in the early days. He was an old soldier and took an active part in all G.A.R. affairs. He was known by all the early residents in the county, who will regret to learn of his death. Mrs. Helwick has been dead for a number of years, and the following children survive: Mrs. Walter Canfield, Fullerton, Calif., Mrs. Grace Krouse, Rocky Ford, Colo.; Otto, Ordway, Calif.; M.V., San Diego, Calif.; Ed of Idaho and James of Hutchinson, Kans.

The body accompanied by the children will arrive from California this Wednesday evening and Rev. U.S. Brown will conduct the services at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at two oclock. Burial will be made in the Belleville cemetery.
