GALVESTON — Betty Joe Thomas, 48, departed this life on Sunday, October 24, 2004, at her residence.

"B.J." was born September 3, 1956, in Galveston, Texas to Walter, Sr., and Elizabeth Knight Thomas. She attended public school in Galveston and was a 1975 graduate of Ball High School, where she played in the band. She also attended Prairie View University. She was employed as a Security Guard.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her father, Walter Thomas, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and James Washington; brother, Walter Thomas, Jr. (Jocelyn); sisters, Darlene Hill and Jackie Walker (William) all of Galveston; three step brothers, six step sisters; uncles, Elijah Knight of Kansas City, MS. and Amos Knight of Aurora, Colorado; aunt, Emma Holland of Galveston; a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

Pallbearer will be Kevin Davis, Faustino DeJesus, Ronald Williams and Edward Knight.

Visitation will be held on today, October 28, 2004, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.

Funeral service for "B.J." will be held on Friday, October 29, 2004, at 11 a.m., at the West Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Kerry W. Tillmon, officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
