Hattie was a daughter of Claude Haddock and Mary Virginia Elks, she was married twice, first to a Robert Dare Beddard (1919-1946) on 31 Jul 1938, two known children at this time, sons, Bobby Gene and Claude Robert Beddard. She married William Alva Hardee on 5 Dec 1946, no known children at this time.

UPDATE: On page 354 in the book "Chronicles of Pitt County" in an article submitted by family to the book it was written that Hattie married William Hardee sometime after her first spouse Robert Beddard died in an automobile accident, William adopted her four children with Robert Beddard, they are Joyce Dare, Bobby Gene, Millie Kay and Claude Robert. Their last names all appear as Hardee in this book. This same article states that William and Hattie had a son named William Alvah Hardee Jr.
