Mrs. Gertrude Eppley Fishburn, 96 years old, 214 West Main Street, Mechanicsburg, widow of William F. Fishburn and one of Mechanicsburg's eldest residents, died on Sunday morning in the Seidle Hospital. She was born on Feb. 4, 1869, in South Middleton Township, a daughter of the late George and Sara Cornman Eppley. She lived most of her life at Mechanicsburg.
She was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College, class of 1889, and taught school in South Middleton Township and Mechanicsburg for many years. She was a member of the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, the Woman's Club of Mechanicsburg, and of the Cumberland County Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover Street. The Rev. Duncan K. MacPherson, pastor of the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
