Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Glad Tidings Lighthouse in South Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be noon until service time Thursday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
The Rev. Neely was born April 24, 1928, in Glenrock, Wyo., to the Rev. John and Margaret Neely, now deceased.
He had 45 years of ministry experience which included being a traveling evangelist to 38 states, a traveling missionary to Trinidad and Jamaica, founding director and pastor of Christian Life Fellowship of Sioux City and founding president and director of Siouxland Christian College of South Sioux City. He received a doctorate of ministry from Kingsway Theological Bible College of Des Moines in 1988, and was district superintendent of Kingsway Fellowship International for the state of Iowa and California.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Loretta M. Neely; a son and his wife, Walter J. "Wally" and Barbara Neely Jr. of Clarkston, Wash.; four grandchildren and mates, David and Jessica Neely of Lewiston, Idaho, Bobby and Shauna Martinez of Phoenix, Ariz., Victor and Wendy Gallegos of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Penny Neely of Clarkston, Wash.; a brother, John Herbert Neely of Petersburg, Va.; a sister, Goldie Vanston of South Sioux City; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
