On the 1880 Lexington, VA census, I found carpenter Jno. F. Crawford, 51; Mary C. Crawford, 44; Douglass S. Crawford, 18; Charles M. Crawford, 15; Nettie K. Crawford, 14; Walter F. Crawford, 9; Mary L. Crawford, 6; Shelton Y. Crawford, 4 and Eppa E. Crawford, 2, all VA born.
The 28 Nov 1900 issue of the Lexington Gazette says: "DIED. At his residence in this place at twenty minutes o 10 o'clock today Mr. John L. Crawford in the 73d year of his age" (John F Crawford was aged 71 years, 7 months, 27 days, using the dates on his gravestone).
The 5 Dec 1900 issue of the Lexington Gazette says: In the County Court:
"The will of J. F. Crawford, deceased, was proven and ordered to be recorded. Charles M. Crawford qualified as executor." It also carried his obit (photo on the right).
