Jerald Wood Burriss was born in What Cheer, Iowa, on Feb 10, 1921. He died on Feb 28, 2005, of natural causes. He served in World War II as a B-24 pilot in the European theater.

He founded and operated Tribur Oil in Bettendorf, Iowa for several years. He introduced Self-Serve gasoline stations to San Diego County in 1964, owning and managing nine Pit Stops. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of 42 years; their sons Mark, Craig and Brian Burriss and three grandchildren. He is also survived by son Jerald W. Burriss, Jr.; daughter, Deborah Nowlin; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Guldberg and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service 10am Sat, March 5, 2005. El Camino Mortuary Chapel, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd. Inurnment to follow in El Camino Memorial Park. The family suggests donations to American Parkinson Disease Association: 1250 Hylan Blvd, Suite 4B, Staten Island, NY, or San Diego Humane Society: 5500 Gaines St, San Diego.
