Tom was born in Kansas City, Kansas, where he grew up. He attended Junior College in the Kansas City area, where he met his future wife, Dorothy. Tom received his commercial pilot's license at the age of 16 and later joined the U.S. Marine Corp at the age of 17, and attended OCS school. During World War II, Tom was a Captain in the Marine Corps where he served in the Pacific on a carrier and at training camps on the east coast. After the war, he was in the reserves, retiring with 20 years of service as a Major. He also was a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol and the American Red Cross with their disaster relief team. Tom worked as a chemist for Rocketdyne in McGregor for 36 years. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, photography, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, on January 30, 2013.
He is survived by his sons: John Blasche and wife, Ann, Bob Blasche and wife, Kay, David Blasche and wife, Jill, Paul Blasche and wife, Nancy, and Don Blasche and wife, Carol; daughter, Katherine Blasche; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
