Ida May was born to Joseph & Susan E (Potts) Chapman in Colesburg, Delaware County, Iowa. Her father had been a pioneer in the area, serving as postmaster of that vilage. He was also a Justice of the Peace in 1860.
He was born in New York and his wife in Pennsylvania.
Ida had four brothers and two sisters; William (1852-), Emily, (1854-),Cora B., (1858-), James N., (1861-), George, (1863-), and Morris L., (1868-).
Ida married James K.P. Bolsinger (see link to his site below) on 10 Nov. 1929. They had six children (See Joseph Clyde's link below.)
Ida was a member of the Congregational Church and a charter member of Minnehaha Chapter #344 OES, of which she was a past matron. She also held a charter membership in the Colesburg Rebekah Lodge and also was a past noble grand matron of that order.
For a number of years she was a member of the Caldron Lodge of Dubuque.
Her parents were among the very first settlers of Colony township, and she was reared in a pioneer home dedicated to frugality and piety, qualities which were characteristic of her throughout her life. Devotion to her home and family was paramount to her. To her children these precepts were an example and inspiration.
She died at her home at age 89 years after thirteen years in a state of semi-invalidism.
Funeral services were held at her home under the auspices of the Order of the Eastern Star and sermon by a pastor of the Methodist church.
