LEXINGTON Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Kleckley Areheart, 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. She was born in Lexington County on March 29, 1919 to the late Lee and Orrie Kleckley.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harry, Jesse, and Woodrow and sister, Irene Harmon.

Ruth was married to Todd Areheart for 73 years prior to his death in October.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith; two grandchildren, Wendy (Roscoe) Nesmith, Duane Smith and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and George Nesmith.

Ruth was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and participated in the Hilltoppers.

She retired from Compton's Department Store where she enjoyed assisting customers for many years. At home she tended to her flowers and helped work the family farm. Friends and family frequently received vegetables from her gardens. She also enjoyed cooking and canning.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tri-County Hospice, Oakleaf Village and each of her personal sitters for their care and support. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 226 Corley Mill Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
