Anne Katherine Melzer was born in Guthrie, North Dakota on October 23, 1904 the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth Roth Beutler. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith, attended school and grew to womanhood in North Dakota.
On March 19, 1924 she was united in marriage to Elmer Melzer. Mr. and Mrs. Melzer farmed in Kensal, North Dakota and in 1939 came to Osakis, Minnesota, in 1948 moved to Alexandria, Minnesota, which has since been their home. Mrs. Melzer was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and also of the Ladies Aid.
She passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota, September 12, 1974 at the age of 69 years. She is survived by her husband, Elmer; one daughter; Zinnola (Mrs. Ben Froemming) of Alexandria; two grandchildren: Russell and Charlotte Froemming; one great granddaughter; two brothers and two sisters: Emil Beutler of Balfour, North Dakota; Eddie Beutler of Drake, North Dakota; Mrs. Tillie Sawyer of Olympia, Washington; Emma (Mrs. Edward Haldi) of Drake, North Dakota. Preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services were September 16, 1974 at Zion Lutheran church, Alexandria, Minnesota, Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Lester Gaugert, Arthur Mehr, John Walz, Mayo Johnson, Robert Brolin and Larry Hansen.
