(Comstock Park) Mrs. Dorothy M. Bomers, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007. She was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church and the Fatima Club at the church. Mrs. Bomers was the owner of Romona Beauty Salon and also owned several other shops on Plainfield Avenue, Jenison, and Gaslight Village. Her enjoyment was in visiting with people, but she was the type of person who kept everything confidential. With free time Mrs. Bomers liked to play bingo. In her younger years, she and her husband would snowmobile, fish, and hunt, and she especially enjoyed deer camp in the Upper Peninsula. Her favorite pastime was playing with her two cats, Buffy and Spooky, but she loved all animals. For many years Mrs. Bomers belonged to the Grand Rapids Antique Car Club. Her favorite car was her 1960 Cadillac which her great niece now owns. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gertrude Miller; nieces and nephews, Mrs. Myrtle Miller, Mrs. Rita Sparks, Ruth and Carl Esakson, and Carl and Theresa Miller; many great nieces and nephews; and many great, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bomers in 2001, brothers, LaVern and Clarence Miller, and her nephews, Ivan Miller and Bill Sparks. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Dorothy M. Bomers will be offered on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Belmont, with The Rev. Peter Vu presiding. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery. The Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Building Fund at Assumption BVM Catholic Church or the American Kidney Foundation. Friends may meet with Mrs. Bomers' family from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday.
