Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction with Rev. John J. Stack officiating. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 pm at the Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 PM. Mary Isabelle Rouse was born on July 3, 1928 in Hopkinton, Iowa, the daughter of, Chester W. and Florence (Gerlach) Rouse. She married Harlan Brinkman on August 24, 1946 in DeWitt, Iowa. She was a homemaker and babysat for generations of Wyoming children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction, and the church guild. She loved to sew and made blankets, quilts and wedding dresses. She made and contributed many items to the University of Iowa Hospitals and area nursing homes. Mary was an avid gardener and cook and she had written her own cook book. She is survived by her husband, Harlan "Whitey" Brinkman of Wyoming; 2 daughters, Susan (& special friend Bill) Steines of East Dubuque, Illinois and Amy S. Brinkman of Des Moines. 4 sons, Charles "Charlie" (& Ryoko) Brinkman of Honolulu, Hawaii; R. Michael Brinkman of Atlanta, Georgia; Steven R. (& Debra) Brinkman of Wyoming and Paul E. Brinkman of Moline, Illinois. 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and Maggie. 4 sisters, Clara Ann Fetz of Tuscan, Arizona; Jean (Mrs. Don) Maher of Tipton; Gladys Whipple of Macon, Georgia and Betty (Mrs. John) Christophersen of Clarence. 4 brothers, Raymond (& Kathy) Rouse of Tipton; Mike (& Karolyn) Rouse of Clarence; Tom (& Ramona) Rouse and John (& Jo) Rouse of Princeton, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Chester Rouse. Mary I. Brinkman, 75 of Wyoming died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at her home following a long illness.
