LAFAYETTE MOURNS DEATH OF ALDEN MARCH

Lafayette College mourned today the death of Alden March, 90, one of its most distinguished alumni, the college flag being at half mast.

Speaking at the convocation in Colton Memorial Chapel today, President William Mather Lewis said:

"Lafayette College mourns today the passing of a distinguished alumnus, Alden March, of the Class of 1890.

"The March family, father and sons, hold first place on the roll of Lafayette's distinguished men. Through their contributions in the fields of education, military, science, journalism and law they proved the value of home influence, sound education and high character.

"Alden March, in his more than 20 years on The New York Times, became a truly great newspaper man, combining accuracy and calmness with a keen sense of news values."
