Michael Kent Clifford was born on December 16, 1946 to Edwin and Ruth (Funk) Clifford in Fairmont, Minnesota. Mickey graduated from Welcome High School in 1964 and lived in Welcome for most of his life. He was united in marriage to Glenda Evans on September 10, 1971 and was later divorced after thirty years of marriage. He owned Clifford Farm Drainage for thirty-five years. After leaving his business he moved to Lake Crystal, Minnesota where he was employed by G M Contracting for three years. He then was employed by Ellingson Company of West Concord, Minnesota until taking a leave of absence because of cancer. He was united in marriage to Jennifer Carroll on December 19, 2005. Mickey fought a courageous battle with cancer until May 22, 2006. Mickey was a member of the Welcome Fire Department for sixteen years, Welcome JC's, Welcome Lions Club and Sons of the American Legion, Minot, North Dakota. Mickey loved to ride motorcycle and go camping.
Mickey died on Monday morning May 22, 2006 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota at the age of fifty-nine years.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; son Doug Clifford and his wife, Jana of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; daughter Michelle Clifford of Alexandria, Minnesota; stepdaughter,Tonya Stinar and her husband, Jeff, of Estherville, Iowa; stepsons, Kevin Clabaugh of Estherville, Iowa and Larry Walders Jr. of Dyess AFB, Texas; six grandchildren Talon Clifford and he was waiting the birth of his seventh grandchild in June, Logan, Ashley, Emily, and Landon Stinar and Reid Clabaugh; brother, Jim Clifford and his wife, Janet, of Minot, North Dakota; sisters-in-law, Sue Clifford of Estherville, Iowa, Gail Anderson and her husband, Michael of Armstrong, Iowa and Kathy Carroll of Fairmont, Minnesota; brothers-in-law, Michael Carroll and his wife, Gloria, of Phoenix, Arizona, Pat Carroll and his wife, Jeri, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Paul Carroll of Fairmont, Minnesota, David Carroll and his wife, Sheree, of Fairmont, Minnesota and James Carroll of Estherville, Iowa; aunt, Helen "Pat" Anderson of Minot, North Dakota; special friends,Steve and Eileen Morrow of Welcome, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dennis and Joseph and other relatives.
