WELLINGTON: A Celebration of Life Service for John “Owl” Leonard Cody, 88, will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday. Mr. Cody went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Mr. Cody was a member of Cane Creek Church in Anniston. He retired from the US Navy after 20 years of faithful service and served his country during the Korean War Era. During Mr. Cody’s working years, he retired from Civil Service at Fort McClellan and the Alabama Department of Transportation as a scales man. In his spare time he enjoyed bee keeping and spending time with his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Amzy Butterworth Cody; and his sister, Jean Cates.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to Cane Creek Church, C/O Missions, 6143 Weaver Road, Anniston, AL 36206.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Southern Care Hospice; special caregivers, Tara, Lisa, Kathy, Rachael, Summer, Brenda, Butch and Cathy; and all friends and neighbors who gave continual love and support during this difficult time.
